Cooney, Roche, and Caldwell family scrapbook, 1882-1947.

Scrapbook containing clippings from Pennsylvania and New Mexico newspapers documenting the lives of Irish-American extended family members David P. Roche and his wife Catherine Cooney Roche of Providence, Pennsylvania; their son Michael D. Roche and his wife Cassie DeLacy Roche of Providence, Pennsylvania; Captain James C. Cooney and Captain Michael Cooney of New Mexico, brothers of Catherine Cooney Roche; and Anna Roche Caldwell, her husband Dr. George Otis Caldwell, and their daughters Catherine and Angenette Caldwell of Scranton, Pennsylvania. The clippings include death notices, elegies written in memory of various family members by Michael D. Roche and others, and articles regarding activities of family members. There are several articles describing the deaths of Captain James Cooney, who was killed in a skirmish with a band of Apaches in New Mexico in 1880, and Captain Michael Cooney, founder of the Cooney Mining Company, who died of exposure while on a prospecting trip in the Mogollon mountains of New Mexico, in 1915. Two carte-de-visite photographs of two unidentified family members, manuscript notes on the prescription notepaper of Dr. Caldwell in an unidentified hand, two colored prints on religious themes, a business card of M. D. Roche, a manuscript note signed, "Michael," written on the back of an envelope, and two undated valentines sent to the Caldwell daughters (who may have compiled the volume) are also present.
